About the Ride

Hello there! We are the Koskies and we are hitting the road for the next four months on the adventure of our lifetime. We’re calling it A Summer of Happy.
We depart from Wichita, Kansas on May 22 for Denver and will return sometime in September after making several other stops between New Orleans and Rhode Island. And who knows, maybe we’ll keep on going! A random brainstorm while trying to fall asleep one night has forced us to turn our lives upside down…and it feels really good.
How many times do we hear, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” This, actually. I would pack up and travel! We’re fortunate to be in a unique position that allows us to shake up our life and run away.
We both work from home and for ourselves. I’m (Brandi) a content marketing strategist and Shelton is a web developer for our company EightyGrit.
Our daughter isn’t in school. Paisley just turned four, and while she’s been in preschool, we think there are some greater lessons on the road.
We don’t own our home. Rendering ourselves homeless was one of the most difficult decisions to make. We adore the home we rent, but not having the anchor made it even easier to pack up and leave.
We’re putting our belongings in a storage container, we’ve sold both of our cars, and we’ve had a monster moving sale. Our luggage will be as minimal as possible. Using online services and a network of friends, we’ll be renting and borrowing homes along our route. We’re going to test the limits of the “workcation” while getting in all of the undivided family time we can stand!
